2010 Jackson Hole
Amazing trip with Gray and Mike to Jackson Hole, WY in June. Enjoy the pics!
Photos from Jackson Hole 2010
To recap, in early June we met Gray and Mike Moulton in Salt Lake City for our big adventure. We spent that first evening in SLC at the plush Ramada Inn by the airport which even had a cozy little bar for an evening nitecap. The next morning we were up and at 'em for the 6 hour drive to Jackson. We took a quick spin through Park City and then back to the drive. After passing the testicle festival sign and wondering if we were truely seeing what we thought we saw...we double backed to take to photos to capture that first stupifying moment. The cows across the street were very perplexed which was captured in their photo. Onward from there, we stopped for lunch at Blondie's cafe, which was an excellent stop for lunch. Then on for the cheese curd store to pick up some snacks for the rest of the trip. We rolled into town and promptly drove through to catch the last daylight for the first peek at the Grand Tetons. Back to town for a drink at the Cowboy Bar, some quick shopping and dinner at my first choice, the Snake River Grill. On to the townhouse to rest up for the next day.
Thursday took off with a stop at Moose where we promptly saw...a MOOSE! Go figure! Then on to Yellowstone where we started with an elk sighting, many, many buffalo and a bald eagle. We just missed Old Faithful going off, so we bummed around the inn for a while for the next showing. Just as we sat down we had a little chipmunk to entertain us until the next eruption and then it began to pour! Rain-really? But we stuck it out. We could hear it really well, seeing--oh well, we heard it. We made our way around and after a long day we finished with dinner at the Yellowstone Lodge and saw the sunset somewhere around 9:45. Gray took some amazing shots around that time too.
Friday we made our way back to Jenny Lake and on the drive to Teton Village, we were treated with a baby black bear sighting-Amazing! Same spot G and I saw one several years ago. Gray & Mike had the best luck! Then on to the Bar J for a chuckwagon, which was pretty amazing, even if we did have to suck it up to fit into the little space that our fellow tablemates left for us.
Saturday we wrapped things up in Jackson with some last minute shopping for souveniers and then made our way to G's hometown in Rock Springs for dinner with his mom and brother. So nice to see them both and for Gray & Mike to meet them. Then off to get back to Salt Lake for a final evening in the Courtyard by the airport for our 6 am flight!
What a wonderful trip with our fabulous friends...who could ask for more...well, maybe another trip? What's next?
